Dragon Ball (ドラゴンボール) was one of the most explosive Japanese anime that made it to the Western World. Dragon Ball Japanese anime became so popular that it was made into video games and the TV series ran for a long time. This Japanese anime by Akira Toriyama was originally featured in comic books from 1984 to 1995 and was re-released about a decade later with slightly different ending and storyline.

In the United States, this Japanese anime was released in two Japanese anime comic books: Dragon Ball and also Dragon Ball Z. But, later on only Dragon Ball Z was kept in the US. Unlike Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Japanese anime featured the monkey tailed boy called Son Goku. This Japanese anime was about the life of Son Goku and the battles he fought. In Dragon Ball, Son Goku was a kid for most episodes and he fought so many battles that he ended up being a martial arts expert.
The Dragon Balls referred to the seven magical spheres which were scattered across the world. Every kung fu masters in the Dragon Ball Japanese anime strived to find all the dragon balls because whoever assembled the balls together can summon the dragon called Shenlong. Shenlong would grant that person one wish which was usually the ultimate power. Dragon Ball was a popular Japanese anime among young boys and adults.
The difference between Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z Japanese anime
Dragon Ball Japanese anime was about the life of young son Goku - a kid while Dragon Ball Z was about the life of grown up Son Goku, his friends and his son, Gohan.
