Mask of Glass (ガラスの仮面)

The story of the Mask of Glass or ガラスの仮面 or Glass no Kamen is all about the struggling lives of actresses. The two main characters were 13 year old girls Maya Kitajima (Kitachima) and Ayumi Himekawa (Himegawa).

They met when they were 13 when Ayumi Himekawa was already an astounding actress, daughter of the most famous actress at the time and a famous producer.

Maya Kitajima, however, was a failure girl who did not have a father or a loving mother. She struggled at school as well as work everyday delivering noodles to help her mom with money. Maya Kitajima 's passion, though, was acting since she was a child. Maya Kitajima did not have a supportive mother or money to enroll in any acting class but she sneaked in to see any plays or movies whenever she could, memorizing and learning in a crude way by herself.

One day Maya Kitajima 's fate turned when she met her would be teacher, Chigusa Tsukikage, an old actress who was Japan's best until an accident on stage that left her face scarred beyond any plastic surgery. She has been searching for a girl with a thousand masks to train to play the role she once played and has the sole copyright to, the Crimson Goddess.

The Mask of Glass or ガラスの仮面 takes you through Maya Kitajima 's struggle to become a world famous actress. Ayumi Himekawa was a worthy opponent and rival who aspired to play the same role Maya Kitajima has been training to play.
