Uwasa No Himeko
Uwasa No Himeko or うわさの姫子, lightly translated as Himeko according to the gossips, was a 1980s comic book series by Fujiwara Eiko. The plot of Uwasa no Himeko features a teenage Japanese girl, Himeko. The same author, Fujiwara Eiko, then went on to write Good Morning! Himeko (Ohayou! Himeko or おはよう!姫子 in Japanese).

Himeko is a Japanese teen living with her grandfather. Her mother lives in San Francisco and is married to an American. Her father died when she was very young. Himeko was brought up by her old fashioned grandfather who taught her many values as a Japanese girl. Himeko 's grandfather was always seen wearing mens kimono and Himeko was always encouraged to wear a kimono around the house.
While Himeko has a sad family life with no father or mother, Himeko is a cheerful and unbreakable girl, although delicate inside. She is very good at sports, like a boy. In fact, in one of the episodes of Uwasa No Himeko or うわさの姫子, she posed as a male singer, Lucky. When dressed as a boy, Himeko won every girl's heart. At school, Himeko had an on and off boyfriend named Masaki who was crude, loved Karate and also cared a lot about Himeko.
The story of Uwasa No Himeko or うわさの姫子 is all about Himeko 's life, mostly at school. The readers are moved by the courage of young Himeko who had to overcome many obstacles in her life. She did it with grace, courage and heart. In 1980s, Himeko was every little girl's friend.
