Yami no Purple Eye or Purple Eyes In The Dark or Purple Eye of Darkness or 闇のパープルアイ (เพอเพิลอาย)was a thrilling Japanese anime with a slight tint of horror and love story. Yami no Purple Eye or Purple Eye of Darkness started off as a successful Japanese comic book series among girls who liked the Shoujo Horror Genre. This Japanese anime was made into a live action Japanese TV series based on the Japanese comic books but the TV episodes which only 11 were made in 1996 did not do as well as the comic book counterpart. Yami no Purple Eye or Purple Eye of Darkness is not a Japanese anime for everyone. It is not very scary but it is a thriller which can disturb some faint hearted Japanese anime audience. Story of Yami no Purple Eye or Purple Eye of Darkness

Yami no Purple Eye or Purple Eye of Darkness Japanese anime featured a teenage girl called Ozaki Rinko. Ozaki Rinko was a high school student who lived an ordinary life with her father and younger sister, Mai or Maii. She also had a boyfriend called Mizushima, a handsome but rebellious young man.

The special thing about Ozaki Rinko was that she had a strange birth mark on her left arm, as you can see in the picture of Ozaki Rinko - Yami no Purple Eye below.

At the beginning of this Japanese anime TV series, Yami no Purple Eye, a school teacher whose father had been obsessed with his research on humans who could transform into animals, discovered the strange birth mark on Ozaki Rinko. She invited Ozaki Rinko to her research lab and told her the story of the significance of the special birthmark. Osaki Rinko did not believe her but was shocked by the facts.

Next, this evil teacher bribed the enemies of Mizushima, Ozaki Rinko's boyfriend, to take Ozaki Rinko and raped her. They grabbed Osaki Rinko while she was alone and took her to a dark alley and started tearing her clothes off. Osaki Rinko cried and screamed and suddenly her birthmark felt as if it was on fire. She suddenly had the strength of a beast. Her eyes sparkled, enlarged and became purple. She panted and agonized as her bone structured changed. While still not knowing what she was doing, she slaughtered all the gangsters who tried to rape her, biting their hands, arms, and legs off one by one.

Her boyfriend, Mizushima Shin, found out about the bad thing his enemies were plotting to do to Ozaki Rinko and rushed to find her. When crashed into the corpses of the gangsters and in the bush was Ozaki Rinko, naked and with blood in her mouth and on her hands. Mizushima Shin took Osaki Rinko to his apartment and watched her until she finally woke up.

Osaki Rinko could still taste blood in her mouth and vaguely remembered that she killed all the men. But Mizushima Shin calmed her down and did not suspect that she was the one who killed the men. Life went on normally for Osaki Rinko for awhile until her next encounter with the evil teacher.
