Yokohama Monogatari

Yokohama Monogatari or ヨコハマ物語 means Yokohama Story is a beautiful love epic by Yamato Waki (大和和紀). The synopsis or story of Yokohama Monogatari (ヨコハマ物語) by Yamato Waki (大和和紀) revolves around the life of two young Yokohama ladies called Uno and Mariko.

Uno is a servant girl serving Mariko in Yokohama Monogatari or Yokohama Love Story (ヨコハマ物語) by Yamato Waki (大和和紀). On the left hand picture of Uno and Mariko, Uno has long black hair whereas Mariko is supposed to have long blonde hair even though she is Japanese. In the beginning of the Yokohama Monogatari or Yokohama Love Story (ヨコハマ物語) by Yamato Waki (大和和紀), Uno came to Mariko's house to be a servant girl. Mariko was leading a double life as a rebellious young girl and as a fragile young lady. She played pranks on Uno who was horrified when she discovered the true image of the young lady of the house, Mariko.

Uno and Mariko became friends. They both fancied a local boy called Shintaro. Not knowing who Shintaro loved, both Mariko and Uno both tried to earn his love. However, in the end, before Shintaro left for America to become a doctor, he told Uno that he loved Mariko. Uno then got them together although it broke her heart.

The story of Yokohama Monogatari or Yokohama Love Story (ヨコハマ物語) by Yamato Waki (大和和紀) got complicated because during the Meiji era, Japan had just started dealing with foreigners. While Shin was away, Mariko who decided to wait for Shin to marry him when he came back, had to marry to save the status of her family. While everything was in turmoil, Mariko had to marry a Japanese entrepreneur called Ryusuke who was rich enough to save her family.
