Yokohama Monogatari Pictures

Yokohama Monogatari or ヨコハマ物語 is a comic book story of two Yokohama ladies by famous writer Yamato Waki (大和和紀) who also wrote the Tale of Genji. The story of Yokohama Monogatari or ヨコハマ物語 revolves around two ladies from Yokohama, Mariko and Uno.

Mariko Kano 's father was a friend of Uno's father. So, when he died, Mariko's father took Uno in. She started off as a servant in the house serving Mariko. But they became friends and were inseparable. They loved the same man and were always together.

Uno Uno was a kind hearted woman who was brought up with Mariko as a servant but became a good and loyal friend to Mariko. Uno loved the same man Mariko did but gave up because he loved Mariko and not her. Uno's life in Yokohama Monogatari or ヨコハマ物語 was a constant struggle. She did not have anyone. Her parents died when she was young and she had to leave home to become a servant to Mariko. While she was grateful that Mariko's father was kind to her, she still felt that she was a burden and always wanted to stand on her own two feet.
